Pizza in a Pot
from: Stephanie Thomas

(to me this wasn't a good name, because it didn't remind me of pizza at all, but it was still good)

1 lb Italian sausage
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can chili beans
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can sliced ripe olives (I didn't put these in because I don't like olives)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 T dried basil
1 bay leaf
1 t salt
1/2 t sugar
Hot cooked pasta (or rice)
mozzarella cheese, shredded (or cheddar)

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a slow cooker. Add the next 13 ingredients; mix will. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours. Stir before serving over pasta. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese if desired. (The first night we had it over pasta with mozzarella cheese. The next night, we had it over rice with cheddar cheese. I preferred it over rice, Billy liked it on the pasta).
